The basis of the 1267 blacklist is the elastic concept of "association". Please join our Facebook group: not only will this help keep you in touch with updates and calls for action, we see this as a way of deliberately, publicly associating with Abdelrazik, a small gesture to throw off the fear, isolation and control that such blacklisting regimes are designed to create.
Abousfian Abdelrazik has been "listed" since June 2006. Because he is on this list, he lives under an international travel ban and a complete asset freeze.
He has been charged with no crime, has been given no trial and not one shred of evidence has been produced to justify placing him under these sanctions. But this UN blacklist is not based on what you have done but on alleged association. It is about your profile and who you may know.
Abdelrazik is a scapegoat. He is being used to send a message to others, especially those with the "wrong profile": keep your head down, don't speak out, don't get involved in social issues, don't associate with others.
Project Fly Home is calling on all allies to break the isolation, to stand with Abdelrazik and all who are being targeted by paranoia and racism. We are calling on people to break the fear and challenge the logic of guilt by association by deliberately, openly, proudly associating with Abdelrazik.
